On Tuesday, the Sensex rose 158 points to 82,055 (intraday high: 83,018), and Nifty 50 gained 72 points to 25,044. Gains were led by PSU Bank and Metal indices. Mid- and Small-Cap indices rose 0.7% each. Oil prices fell nearly 6%, erasing gains since Israel’s initial strikes. Brent is now around $69. The rupee gained 0.9%, closing at ₹85.97/USD—its best day since May 23—on lower oil and a weaker dollar. Oil Prices Are On A Swing: Oil remains volatile. Tanker rates surged, with supertanker prices to China up 12% to $76K/day—highest since March 2023. Shipping costs added ~$1.4/barrel since the Iran strikes. Navies warn of elevated risks, but flows continue for now. Tata Says Supply Of Rare Earth Is Fine: Tata Motors says China’s rare earth curbs haven’t affected EV production. Maruti has cut output, but Tata’s plans remain on track. The company is also working to reduce rare earth usage. China controls over 90% of global magnet processing, and new permits are slowing global supply. More Action In Weight Loss: Novo Nordisk launched Wegovy in India after Eli Lilly’s Monjaro. With 250M Indians obese, demand is high. Wegovy, a weekly prescription injection, will be available by June-end, priced ₹17K–₹26K.
